Boy, 4, killed by out-of-control vehicle in S. Fla

OAKLAND PARK, Fla — A 4-year-old boy is dead after an out-of-control vehicle struck him as he stood in front of a South Florida home with his grandmother.

The Broward Sheriff's Office says 54-year-old Estelida Morales was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Authorities say 65-year-old Deliverance Delien was visiting a nearby residence and stepped on the accelerator as he backed out of the driveway. The SUV crashed into an unoccupied vehicle parked on the street. The man then tried to U-turn to leave the neighborhood, but lost control again and hit a vehicle in front of a nearby home. That vehicle struck Morales and her grandson, Joshua Snyder.

Sheriff's officials say charges are pending the outcome of an investigation.
