Bru's Clues Week 12 College Football Picks

The Clues are on an absolute roll, going 6-1 last week and 11-1 over the past two weeks. The overall record for the season has now jumped to 31-21. We’re now hitting at nearly 60% against the number.

One of the great things about college football is the absurd fans. Alabama may have won the big showdown in Tuscaloosa this past Saturday, but the true winner was “LSU T-Rex fan.” I’ve never been, so entertained by the ridiculousness of a fans reaction to a touchdown or a win. The Jurassic Park .gif creations that came out afterwards made it even better.

This fan at a Boston Celtics game this past week gets honorable mention for owning his time on the jumbotron.

Let’s get to the picks.

Syracuse vs Florida State

It’s been all rainbows and unicorns in Tallahassee this season, until Wednesday evening when news broke that star quarterback Jameis Winston was being investigated in connection with a sexual assault case from last December. News continues to trickle in on the case, but we do know that Winston will play this weekend against Syracuse. That’s all I need to know for now, because I’m not going to pick against the Seminoles until they stop scoring at a breakneck pace.

Pick: Florida State (-34.5)

UCF vs Temple

The Knights historic season rolls along with a trip to “The City of Brotherly Love” and a game against one of the worst teams in the American Conference.  Blake Bortles and Storm Johnson should be licking their chops. Temple’s defense gave up more than 700 yards of offense to SMU earlier in the season.

Pick: UCF (-16.5)

Florida vs South Carolina

I’m guessing Will Muschamp has gone through quite a few iphones this season. Every time the trainer’s number pops up the scowl grows across his face and another phone meets his office wall. This week it was starting linebacker Antonio Morrison and quarterback Tyler Murphy. Redshirt freshman Skyler Mornhinweg is expected to get the start at QB.

Pick: South Carolina (-12)

Miami vs Duke

The Hurricanes were one of the most overrated top-10 teams I can remember. Duke Johnson was nearly all of their offense and it has showed since he’s been out. Duke is a team that is headed in the opposite direction. They’ve won five straight games and David Cutcliffe should be named coach of the year if he can lead them to the ACC Championship game. The Blue Devils are now more than a basketball school.

Pick: Duke (+3.5)

Other games I like:

Stanford (-3.5)

Wisconsin (-23)
