Bru's Clues: Week 8 College Football Picks

The Clues have run amuck over the past two weeks and we’ve barely got our head above water right now at 17-16. Luckily, all the big boys from the state of Florida are back in action this week and I think that should help the picks.

What we learned last week: The Texas blowout win over Oklahoma should allow Mack Brown to go out on his terms. The Gators offense is sad. It’s been five years since Gator fans had an offense to be excited about. That’s an embarrassment with the level of talent in this state. Finally, the Les Miles “clap” is the greatest of all claps. I will teach my kids to clap like Les Miles and they will watch this video as a tutorial.

Ultimate volume without the threat of jamming a finger. Genius!

Let’s get to the picks for a great week of games.

Miami vs North Carolina

The Hurricanes are back in the top ten for the first time since 2009 and should remain there after a Thursday night showdown with the Tar Heels. North Carolina is giving up the most yards in the ACC and Stephen Morris had an extra week to prepare and get healthy.

Pick: Miami (-8.5)

UCF vs Louisville

After an ugly win against Memphis, UCF got a week off to prepare for their biggest, most meaningful game of the year. All eyes will be on Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, but in the two games I’ve watched Bridgewater this year (Kentucky & Rutgers), I’ve come away unimpressed. The key to this one will be keeping Blake Bortles upright and limiting turnovers.

Pick: UCF (+12.5)

Florida vs Missouri

The Gators lost another key starter, Matt Jones, this week, but so did the Tigers. Mizzou quarterback James Franklin is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Prep phenom Maty Mauk will get his first collegiate start against one of the nastiest defenses in the country. Good luck.

Pick: Florida (-3)

Florida State vs Clemson

The Seminoles and Tigers will be showcased Saturday night on Channel 9. The quarterbacks take center stage with Jameis Winston up against Tahj Boyd. A shot at the national championship, ACC Championship and Heisman Trophy are on the line. Boyd has the experience, but Winston has the athleticism and ability to create something out of nothing.

Pick: Clemson (+3)

Bonus Picks:

Wisconsin (-10.5) vs Illinois

Auburn (+14) vs Texas A&M

South Carolina (-7.5) vs Tennessee
