Seminole County schools prepare for face-to-face instructions next week

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — Teachers in Seminole County have a week to get their classrooms in order before students head back to class.

When students return to class, it is going to look different from what they are used to in the past, and from their previous distance learning in the past spring.

Third-grade teacher Ashley Murray can't wait to see her students next Monday, but there are changes as she prepares for face-to-face instruction.

“Pre-pandemic you would come in my room and see no desks, you would see no chairs you would see couches and high-top tables that has definitely put a twist to things,” Murray said.

Now there are rows of desks with plexiglass partitions on each one.

Some classroom in the district do not have shields on the desks, because there are the classrooms dedicated for online learning through Seminole Connect.

Nina Washington said she opted to teach Seminole Connect to learn something new.  She and others have been training to teach to students remotely.

“It’s trying to figure out how to take everything we do in a classroom and make it digital for the students, but I think it’s going to be great,” Washington said.
