Florida doctors say COVID-19 hospitalizations appear to be declining

ORLANDO, Fla. — Doctors in Florida say they're seeing a positive trend in the number of COVID-19 patients in our hospitals.

Dr. Raul Pino, Director of Orange County’s Health Department, says 80 percent of the people who tested positive in Orange County have successfully fought off the virus.

At the same time, doctors at AdventHealth in Orlando say fewer people are being admitted into our hospitals with the coronavirus.

The day with the most hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Florida was July 21, with more than 9,500 patients admitted.

That number has since declined to less than 7,500 people receiving care for the coronavirus in hospitals across Florida today.

Doctors say people who have fought off the virus could continue experience persistent shortness of breath and cough for some time.

Patients with more severe cases could experience kidney dysfunction even after testing negative for COVID-19.
