North Port, Florida - NORTH PORT -- As residents continue to pour in the city, residential communities are turning toward expansion.

The latest community is Cypress Falls, a gated community located near Panacea and Plantation boulevards.

The North Port City Commission approved two expansions for the community during its Tuesday afternoon meeting.

The first is "Phase 2A and 2B" which will add 127 single-family lots spreading 53.89 acres. The area is east of Toledo Blade Boulevard and east/adjacent to Plantation Boulevard.

Phase 2C for Cypress Falls was also unanimously approved by the commission.

It is an application for 52 single-family lots, spreading 36.98 acres. It is located in the southeast quadrant of Plantation Boulevard and Panacea Boulevard intersection.

Commissioner Debbie McDowell asked and was assured the wetlands in the soon-to-be construction zones would be protected. There is also a "construction cut through" so construction vehicles will not drive through the residential areas.
