ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — CVS and Walgreens are playing a critical role in distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Both retailers rolled out their combined phase one effort last week in long-term care facilities in two different states.
Now, Walgreens has followed CVS into Florida where more vaccinations for nursing and elder care patients are underway.

The vaccine rollout in Florida is happening as the state continues to see thousands of new coronavirus cases every day.
On Tuesday, Walgreens’ chief medical officer said his company alone expects to administer three million of the four million expected phase-one shots.
The retailer’s high-tech freezers are stocked and ready with Pfizer’s vaccine that requires ultra-cold storage. The company said it will soon be adding supply from Moderna, viable in warmer temperatures, to help reach more rural areas.
Walgreens officials said it believes it will complete its goal to vaccinate millions of residents in 35,000 long-term care facilities across the U.S. by late February or March.
