Gunman in truck opens fire on driver on Port Orange Bridge

PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Police said a gunman in a pickup truck opened fire on another vehicle as they drove over the Port Orange Bridge Saturday night.

The victim was traveling westbound on Dunlawton Avenue approaching the top of the bridge when a gunman in a Ford F-150 pulled up alongside him and opened fire.

Investigators told WFTV the gunman fired several shots at the driver's side door, striking the driver twice. The victim's 13-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle, but he was not injured, police said.

The driver, identified as 46-year-old Kanwaljit Singh, was shot in his thigh and torso. He was able to call 911 and pull over after getting off the bridge.

Singh was rushed to Halifax Hospital where he is in critical, but stable condition.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored, early model Ford F-150 with a 'Ford' decal or emblem on the sides and a chrome handle on the tailgate.
