Deputies: Man shoots woman, then himself in Kissimmee home

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — An attempted murder-suicide has left an Osceola County woman in critical condition, according to Osceola County deputies.

Deputies said the woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home on Lehigh Avenue in Kissimmee and was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A man was found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds in the front yard of the home.

Deputies said the couple got into a heated argument, and the man pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the female victim multiple times before turning the gun on himself.

“Right now we do think that this is domestic incident and we are going to talk to the neighbors to see what information they can provide,” said Twis Lizasuain, with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the home just before 8 a.m. Saturday.

“Inside the residence they discovered a female, and she has life-threating injuries, and she was airlifted to ORMC,” Lizasuain said.

Steve Coleman and other neighbors were horrified after word spread of the shooting.

“We went out to breakfast and came back, and the road was closed off and they wouldn’t let anybody in,” Coleman said.

“Once I saw them arguing, but it was nothing. I didn’t think it was that bad,” said neighbor Harvey Trejos. “I did not think that it would come to this.”

Other neighbors said they knew the couple had problems.

“They fought outside, and then they would turn around and make up, and now this,” Coleman said. “Didn’t think it would come to this.”

Deputies have not released the victim’s name, or the name of the suspect.
