2 Brevard businesses accused of running internet gambling operations

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two Brevard County businesses are accused of running illegal Internet gambling operations.

Melbourne police served two search warrants simultaneously Wednesday but no arrests were made.

Only Eyewitness News got a look inside a now-closed strip mall casino.

"There's just an investigation right now," the manager said.

"Were you running an illegal gambling operation?" asked Channel 9's Mario Boone.

"No. Nope," said the manager.

"The police said you were and they shut it down," Boone said.

"It's under investigation," the manager said.

The manager said it was "just games of entertainment."

At a news conference, Melbourne police said it was more than just entertainment.

"These are in fact operations of gambling and they are illegal," Cmdr. Kenneth Bale of the Melbourne Police Department said.

The manager said she doesn't know when it will be back open.
