• 2 dead in fiery crash with semitruck in Ocala, officials say

    OCALA, Fla. - Two people were killed Friday afternoon in a crash that left their vehicle pinned and burning beneath a semitruck, Ocala Fire Rescue officials said.

    The crash was reported at about 4:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of NE 14th Street.

    Firefighters attempted to put out a fire sparked by leaking fuel from the semitruck's gas tank, but were unable to get the driver and passenger out in time, officials said.

    The driver of the semitruck was able to escape after the impact and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
