2nd Orange County Public Schools football game cancelled due to possible COVID-19 cases

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A scheduled preseason football game between Edgewater and Seminole High Schools has been canceled  because of possible COVID-19 infections.

Orange County Public Schools announced the cancellation of the game Thursday, citing reports of unconfirmed cases of COVID-19 with Edgewater High School’s football team.

According to the school district, the people believed to have been in contact with the potential COVID patients have been identified.

This is the second OCPS football game to be cancelled due to COVID-19.

On Wednesday, they announced the cancellation of another game that was scheduled to take place between Evans High School and Jones High School because of COVID-19 quarantines preventing Evans from practicing.

Both games were scheduled for Friday, August 20.

Jones High School has scheduled a replacement game against Gadsden County High School for Aug. 19.
