4 Rivers to host fundraiser for Kissimmee police officers killed

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The community is coming together to support the families of two Kissimmee officers gunned down in the line of duty.

Officer Matthew Baxter and Sgt. Sam Howard were responding to a call Friday night at Palmway and East Cypress Streets in Kissimmee when they were shot and killed by Everett Miller, police said.

4 Rivers Kissimmee plans to hold a benefit Sunday for the fallen officers' families and have asked the community to join in.

On Sunday, the restaurant will hold a free car wash from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. There will also be family activities and of course food. All the proceeds from the event will benefit the Baxter and Howard families.

About two dozen local businesses will set up shop Wednesday evening in downtown Kissimmee to raise funds for the families of two slain police officers.
