WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A 72-year-old woman said she fought back when two people tried to carjack her in Winter Garden, and the suspects are now behind bars.
The attack was reported Saturday night during the Blues and Barbeque Festival in downtown Winter Garden.
Carol Ann Hall, 72, told Channel 9’s Jeff Levkulich that she and a friend Morgan were walking to their car when two men came out of nowhere.
“As I went to shut the door, somebody grabbed my door, pulled on it and said, ‘This is a carjacking. Get out!’ And I said ‘No, you are not taking my car,'” Hall said.

The two women fought the men and held onto the door as long as they could. “He ended up pulling my upper body out, grabbing my arms, pulling my shirt off over my head, tore my shirt, " Hall said. "And the other guy, I guess, was trying to get in on the other side of the car and he grabbed my keys out of my hand … something must have spooked him and they ran off.”
But the men didn’t go far. Hall said they came back armed with a brick.
“And he again was trying to get in the car and pull me out, the other guy had a brick which he threw through the window and as soon as he threw it through the passenger side window, we heard sirens and they ran away,” she said.
Police arrested Shannon Taylor and Lucius Jeanfort on charges connected to the carjacking.
Hall said she won’t be parking in that area again.
