3 of 5 men questioned in two-county crime spree

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Three of five men believed to have robbed several stores in Orange and Seminole County were taken in for questioning Tuesday.

Deputies said they followed the men from a store on Orange Blossom Trail to Daisy Lane in Apopka, where the men ditched their stolen pickup truck and a gun and then ran away.

Investigators said they believe the truck was stolen overnight from RCG Construction in Apopka before the thieves went on a cross-county crime spree.

Deputies said they were on the lookout after there were three convenience store robberies: one on Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County, another in Longwood, where a cash register was stolen, and a third in Winter Springs, where the men stole an ATM.

The five men seen in surveillance video by authorities ditched their truck and then hopped in a car before it was stopped by deputies in Apopka.

Officers said they then found masks and burglary tools scattered across a lawn.

Three people were taken in for questioning, and Anthony Robbins, 20, was arrested on unrelated charges.

The search for those involved continues, investigators said.
