VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — An appeal hearing has been set for the Volusia County Beach safety officer who was fired over comments and pictures he posted online about Trayvon Martin.

Todd Snipes was fired from Beach Safety Ocean Rescue in August.

County officials said he violated social media policies when he posted inappropriate comments and pictures about Trayvon Martin, Rachel Jeantel, and Paula Deen.

Snipes' hearing is set for Nov. 5.
