Troopers said Hayost was walking his bicycle on the road when he was struck by a vehicle.

Investigators said they collected "lens material" at the scene to try to determine what type of vehicle it came from.

"(The road is) very dark," resident Don Snow said. "It certainly is. There's certain stretches on there where there's absolutely no street lights at all."

No other details have been released.
