POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Polk County Sheriff's deputies arrested 14 people and found about 200 birds at a rooster fight.
Officials say all of the birds were euthanized at the scene. The Lakeland Ledger reports that an anonymous tip led deputies to the in-progress fight on Saturday.
Fourteen people were watching the roosters when deputies arrived.
Deputies found two guns and a large amount of fighting paraphernalia in separate vehicles. They also found a rooster bath, spur packaging, syringes, medicine, a sparring dummy and about 200 roosters, hens, and chicks in a barn.
Two roosters were found tied in sacks, ready to be weighed before a fight.
