Video shows brawl involving 10 girls at Palm Bay High School

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Nearly a dozen students were taken into custody after a midday brawl Tuesday at Palm Bay High School that took both city and county law enforcement to break it up.

The fight started between two girls. Before it was over, 10 students were involved, forcing the school resource officer to call for backup.

Melbourne police haven’t said what started the fight. However, they told Channel 9 News that there were no weapons involved and there were no injuries to the students or the responding officers.

An adult relative of one of the students caused a verbal disturbance during the fight and was arrested.

The 10 students face various charges ranging from battery on a law enforcement officer to resisting arrest.

The school district said the situation was contained quickly, and there was never a need for a lockdown, but declined to comment further saying it was an “ongoing investigation.”
