8-time convicted felon found guilty of attempted murder in Cocoa shooting

COCOA, Fla. — An eight-time convicted felon was found guilty of attempted murder in Brevard County Tuesday, and is now facing life in prison for his ninth conviction.

Police said Keena Bacon, 31, shot Willie Gaines several times at Dolphin Apartments on Peachtree Street in November 2017.

They said without the quick actions of first responders, Gaines likely would have died.

Police said their investigation revealed there were two suspects involved in the shooting, Bacon and Rashad Henderson, 37.

“We believe the reason for the shooting was because the victim was seeing the ex-girlfriend of one of the suspects,” Cocoa Police Detective Oscar Pimentel said.

Henderson is still awaiting trial.

Bacon is scheduled to be sentenced March 25.
