Brevard County launches campaign to vaccinate pre-teens, teens

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Brevard County is launching a new vaccine campaign for teens and pre-teens, just in time for summer break.

They county has announced plans to hold a series of Pfizer vaccine clinics at libraries. Appointments are not necessary.

The county began its outreach efforts with vaccinating homebound seniors. Since the beginning of May, the county has provided the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines at libraries and community centers throughout the county.

Now, that effort is expanding to include teens.

The goal is to get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to children between the ages of 12 and 17 with a series of vaccine events beginning June 7 through June 19.

The first vaccine clinic will take place at the Degroodt Library in Palm Bay in partnership with the Florida Department of Health and Emergency Management. The vaccine will also be administered in Titusville, Cocoa, Satellite Beach, Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, West Melbourne, Merritt Island and Port St. John.
