SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — First responders across Florida will be getting $1,000 bonuses.
Gov. Ron DeSantis made that announcement from Satellite Beach on Tuesday.

The bonuses will go to law enforcement officers, EMTs, firefighters and paramedics.
The legislature passed the proposal, and DeSantis said he plans to sign it into law.

“Some want to defund the police,” DeSantis said. “We’re funding the police and then some, and that’s what we’re here today to say.”
The announcement comes days after DeSantis announced that he was suspending all local emergency orders across the state, canceling all local mask mandates.
