• Brevard deputies believe suspects in custody are 'pillowcase bandits'

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - Deputies believe suspects they have in custody may be the "pillowcase bandits," a group of burglars who have been terrorizing neighborhoods along the Interstate 95 corridor.

Channel 9 first reported last month about the ring that investigators said is known for ransacking homes and filling up pillowcases with stolen loot.

On Thursday, deputies chased a car full of suspects on I-95, but the group crashed on State Road 524 near Cocoa.

The Sheriff's Office said the three suspects were spotted by two concerned residents in the Suntree community near Melbourne.

A deputy spotted the suspects and the Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit was overhead as they peeled out of the community and on to I-95, where stop sticks were deployed.

The first set of stop sticks failed, but the second set punctured a rear tire, forcing the suspects off the road.

Inside their car, deputies said they found stolen merchandise.

The suspects, all from south Florida, have been identified as 27-year-old Brandon McKenzie, 21-year-old Bryan Bradley and 21-year-old Terrance Young.

Together, the three have an arrest sheet more than 40 pages long.
