Burglars hit several homes in quiet Celebration area

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said its investigating a rash of home burglaries that are happening in the quiet Celebtration area.

Since January, at least seven Celebtration residents have had their homes broken into.

One of those burglaries was briefly caught on a home surveillance camera on Eastpark Drive. The burglar can been seen walking out of a home carrying a bag and getting into a waiting dark-colored minivan.

Detectives believe the man and his accomplices have hit several homes in the area where crime is uncommon.

"This is a wonderful wonderful place to live," an unidentified resident said.

The resident didn't want to be identified because her home was broken into and ransacked in early February. The burglar got away with thousands in cash and jewelry.

"It's a feeling of violation. It's just very unsettling," the woman said.

Investigators with the Sheriff's Office said they are working agressively to identify the men responsible.

"They are knocking on the door of a residence. If no one answers the door, they either go in through an unlocked door in the back or they break a window," Twis Lizasuain with the Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the suspects have stolen cash, personal items, small safes and weapons from the homes that were broken into. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
