Car crashes into police cars while officers investigating crash

PALM BAY, Fla. — Palm Bay police said alcohol played a role in a crash, where a man drove into the back of a patrol car while officers were investigating a wreck.

According to police, the officers were stopped in the middle of Babcock Road around 10 p.m. Monday night after responding to a pedestrian who was hit by a car.

Police said a pick-up truck collided with the police cruiser, causing it to rear-end another patrol car.

"It's something that we do have to deal with every day, and we urge that all the motorists pay attention to their surroundings and know what's going on so that way something like this doesn't happen again," said Palm Bay police Sgt. Chris Imel.

Criminal charges are pending. The officers were not hurt in the crash.
