Search continues for men who carjacked delivery driver in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — SWAT team members surrounded a home near the scene of an officer-involved shooting that happened early Wednesday morning on Ivey Lane in Orlando.

SWAT members stormed a house where a delivery driver was carjacked, but came up empty-handed.

The home was empty early Wednesday morning when armed men held up the delivery driver, Henry Donaldson, officers said.

"At about 2:30 this morning, one of our OPD officers was driving down Ivey Lane. He was flagged down by a victim, who stated he had just been carjacked by three armed suspects," said Sgt. Jim Young of the Orlando Police Department.

Investigators said the Donaldson may have been lured to the vacant home for the purpose of robbing him.

Soon after the carjacking, Orlando police spotted the car.

"They saw the suspect vehicle as our officers were driving in the area. That suspect vehicle rammed our patrol car, [and] tried to flee past the officers. The three suspects exited the vehicle and began running on foot," said Young.

As two officers confronted the three armed men, they said they were forced to open fire, killing one of them.

"Our officers were confronted with a deadly force situation and discharged their service weapons, striking one of the suspects and that suspect is deceased on scene," said Young.

Investigators said it appears shots were fired at the carjacking scene as well.

"Shots must have been fired there, so there are bullets into the home, so a crime did took place there some sort of shooting," Young said.

The victim’s boss at New Texas Fried Chicken, believes Donaldson may have been set up and was called out for delivery just to be robbed.

Naz Mayan said when Donaldson got to the home, he called the number the delivery was made from, but it was a Magic Jack number that cannot receive incoming calls.

He Said Donaldson got out of the car and walked to the door.

“Knocked on the door and by the time he turned around, there were three guns pointed at him.” Mayan said. “Thank God nothing happened to Henry. He’s a good, hardworking man. That somebody got killed over it is just upsetting and we’re very disappointed.”
