KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Authorities are investigating after six children were found living in deplorable conditions at a home in Kissimmee.
Investigators said the smell inside the Hollyhock Court home was horrid and that trash, feces and infestation of bugs filled the home.
The parents, Kysa and Randy Donawa, were arrested Friday after drug agents raided the residence.
Aside from the deplorable conditions, authorities also found 26 marijuana plants and a gun.
In an odd twist, Kysa Donawa, 41, worked for the Department of Children and Families but was fired after her arrest.
"Drugs and child neglect: It's something we absolutely cannot stand for," said DCF spokeswoman Kristin Gray.
For the past month, Kysa Donawa was training to investigate cases like the one she was arrested for.
Both parents appeared in court on Monday. A judge placed the children with family members, calling the home "an immediate danger."
