The city plans to bid on hosting the 2027 NBA All-Star Game, according to a tourist development tax application filed with Orange County. The application, which is seeking $256 million in county resort tax revenue to upgrade the 13-year-old arena, states the upgrades would help “prime” the facility to compete for the major basketball event, which this year netted Utah upwards of $280 million in economic impact.

“These events drive positive media impressions in national and international news outlets which are a measurable driver of awareness for Orlando as a desirable and well-rounded destination,” said the application.
