The employee said Lopez refused to show his ID when he showed up at the school to pick up his child.

Video of Lopez given to Channel 9 has no audio. In the complaint to the school district, an employee said Lopez came into the school to pick up his child, but he didn’t think he should have to show his ID because “his uniform is his ID.”

When asked about the allegation, Lopez told Channel 9 that what the employee said isn’t true.

“It’s sad we have someone in there that is lying and trying to prove a point with a law enforcement official, especially an elected law enforcement official like the sheriff, that is personally known,” Lopez said.

Lopez said he thought the employee was joking because they knew each other.

The complaint states that the sheriff said he was allowed to go anywhere in the school any time he wants and does not have to show an ID if he is wearing a uniform.

The complainant said that Lopez told her to go tell her supervisor she was wrong for asking for his ID. The district said the employee did nothing wrong.

The district said there is no investigation and it was handled at the principal level, but didn’t say how, and that the staff has a good relationship with the sheriff.
