Convicted Deltona sex offender accused of impregnating 17-year-old girl

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A convicted sex offender in Volusia County is back in jail Wednesday, accused of having sex with a 17-year-old girl who's now seven months pregnant, authorities said.

Anthony Williams of Deltona was charged with sexual activity with a minor and probation violations.

The 36-year-old convicted sex offender was living with his pregnant 17-year-old girlfriend, investigators said.

A relative of the underage girl tipped off authorities.

A friend of Williams, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he talked to Williams after he was taken to jail.

"I'm aware of it. The whole world's aware of it - except for the Sheriff's Department. I mean, this girl's seven months pregnant and they just found out this morning," he said. "His spirit sounded good but the other shoe hasn't fell yet because he might be looking at some serious time."

Williams was convicted of sexual battery in Duval County in 1994 and was on probation when he was arrested because he failed to report his address to law enforcement.

News of the latest arrest spread throughout the quiet Deltona neighborhood.

"I think it's wrong, especially because he's in his mid-30s. It's not right to do and it's kind of sick," neighbor Michael Aguanno said.

Eyewitness News learned a probation officer found Williams and the 17-year-old in bed over the weekend.

Deputies sent a message to his GPS monitor Wednesday morning and asked him to come home so they could arrest him.

Andrea Nanni, who's related to the girl, was arrested on suspicion of child neglect because deputies claim she failed to report the unlawful relationship.
