‘Crush the Crisis’: Here’s how you can dispose of medications on Prescription Drug Take Back Day

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday and the community is invited to “Crush the Crisis,” an event that gives people a chance to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications safely and anonymously.

Local law enforcement will be on site at six of HCA Healthcare’s Orlando Market hospitals and freestanding emergency rooms to collect unused or expired prescription drugs, while raising awareness about the proper disposal of medications and the dangers of opioid misuse.

Collection sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Here are the drop-off locations:

  • UCF Lake Nona Medical Center, 6700 Lake Nona Blvd. in Orlando.
  • Oviedo Medical Center, 8300 Red Bug Lake Road in Oviedo.
  • Poinciana Medical Center, 325 Cypress Parkway in Kissimmee.
  • Baldwin Park ER, 2361 N. Semoran Boulevard in Orlando.
  • Heathrow ER, 4525 International Parkway in Sanford.
  • ChampionsGate Emergency, 8460 Champions Gate Blvd. in ChampionsGate.

Organizers said law enforcement officers will be collecting tablets, capsules and patches of hydrocodone (Norco, Lortab, Vicodin), oxycodone (Oxycontin, Percocet), tramadol (Ultram), codeine, fentanyl (Duragesic), morphine, hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and oxymorphone (Opana).

They said that needles, syringes, lancets and liquids will not be accepted.
