CSX train workers hit brakes in time to avoid hitting 80-year-old

OCALA, Fla. — CSX train workers’ quick thinking may have saved an elderly man's life in Ocala.

Police said the 80-year-old New Jersey man didn't realize he was driving on the train tracks near southwest 10th Street, but train workers spotted his tail lights.

The workers hit the brakes and managed to slow the 68-car train enough to where the train just nudged the car off the tracks.

The driver, whose name was not released, was hospitalized as a precaution.
