Dashcam video captures dramatic police chase in Casselberry

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — A man accused of stealing a truck and leading Casselberry police on a high-speed chase that ended in a dramatic crash was behind bars Monday, officials said.

The incident was captured by police dash and bodycams.Lamont Jefferies is accused of stealing the truck, which was tracked down using GPS, and driving off at a high rate of speed when an officer arrived at the apartment complex at which the truck stopped.

Casselberry police officers followed the stolen truck and thought they had the driver cornered with stop sticks, but he drove over the sticks and slammed into a police cruiser, nearly hitting an officer, investigators said.

Jefferies is accused of then slamming into another driver before bailing out of the truck and taking off on foot, police said.

He was found hiding, shirtless, on a neighbor's roof, officers said.

The chase and crash did not result in any serious injuries, officials said.

Jefferies was being held without bond at the Seminole County Jail.
