ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Details were released Thursday about a mother who was killed during a home invasion in East Orange County.
Yoliz Marie Borrero was killed in front of her two children Wednesday morning inside a home on Millrace Court.
Three suspects are being sought, and the Department of Children and Families has opened an investigation.
Authorities said they are looking into whether drugs may have been a motive in the home invasion.
In fact, the victim's boyfriend, John DeJesus, who was in the home during the shooting, was arrested at the scene on unrelated drug charges.
WFTV found out DCF is investigating the safety and welfare of Borrero's two children.
A repairman working on a house next door to where the killing happened told WFTV the area has seen recent burglaries.
"One week, the house that I've been working in got broke in. The next week, somebody got killed at the house next door. So, who knows whose next? I mean, yes, we're concerned about it, yes," said repairman Uelton Couto.
WFTV is working to find out whether there have been any past DCF investigations of the children who lived in the home.
