• 1 killed, 2 injured in Lake County crash

    LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - One person is dead and two others are injured after a two-car crash in Lake County Saturday evening.

    According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Kimberley Kinggard of DeLand was traveling westbound on County Road 42 just after 7 p.m. Saturday when she swerved onto the shoulder, overcorrected and lost control of her vehicle.

    The vehicle rotated into the eastbound lane and collided with a pickup truck driven by 65-year-old Jesus Vela, of Eustis.

    A female passenger in Kinggard’s vehicle was killed. She has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

    Kinggard is in critical condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Vela is in serious condition at Florida Hospital in Deland, according to FHP.

    The crash remains under investigation.
