Deltona toddler hospitalized after dog bite

DELTONA, Fla. — A 20-month-old Deltona child was hospitalized after being bitten in the face by a dog, Wednesday morning.

The child was alone in a room with the golden retriever-lab mix when the dog bit the child near the cheek, according to the dog's owner.

The child was taken to the hospital at around 10 a.m.

The dog's owner, who said she is a friend of the child's family, told Channel 9's Anthony DiLorenzo that she has never had a problem with her dog, Snowball, attacking people before.

"I'm more upset about the baby than with my dog. I but I know my dog is friendly. If I brought him he'd be here licking you," the owner said.

The dog's owner said the child was alert and crying when he was taken to the hospital.
