Deputies arrest ‘Grinch’ who stole family’s Christmas presents

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Sheriff’s deputies in Polk County, Florida, have arrested the “Grinch” who they say stole a family’s Christmas last week.

Detectives say 28-year-old Raheim Jamaar Johnson was the man caught on video breaking into a Lakeland home and making off with presents and other items.

Investigators said the victim had left her home early on Monday, Dec. 20, to meet with family.

When she returned home she found her front door open and all the wrapped Christmas presents missing.

After deputies went public with details of the theft, they received several tips identifying Johnson as the man in the photos and were able to obtain a warrant for his arrest.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd thanked the community for helping catch Johnson.

“I am thankful for all the tips we received from the community. And even though he wasn’t in jail by Christmas, he’s in jail now,” Judd said.
