• Deputies search for man in shootout that injured woman in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Orange County deputies said a woman was shot when she got caught in the crossfire of a shootout on Landstreet Road between two men.

The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition and is expected to recover.

Officers still haven't said how many shots were fired or why the gunfire erupted.

One of the men is in custody and the other is still at large.

Neighbors told Channel 9 the man who is still on the loose had been bothering people and was possibly drunk.

Witness Shaquilla Thomas said she was just getting her mail when she heard about eight or nine shots ring out in the parking lot of the Blossom Park Condos.

“All I heard was gunshots, and I just started running,” Thomas said.

Investigators are still trying to figure out why exactly started the fight but they know two men and one woman were involved.

“After speaking to some of the witnesses we discovered that a Hispanic male and a black male were in a shootout in the parking lot, and she was struck unintentionally,” Lt. Paul Hopkins with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman was hit in the lower portion of her body but investigators won't say exactly where. She is recovering at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Investigators are speaking to the victim and the alleged shooter and they said the shooter who got away may still have a gun.

Deputies said the man they’re looking for is Hispanic and in his 20s.

They said he may have left on foot since deputies have not received any description of a getaway car.
