VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Investigators in Volusia County told Channel 9 a couple was found dead in their Deltona home on Monday night.
Deputies checked on the couple at the request of a family member who hadn't heard from them in a few days, according to the sheriff's office.
"She calls me several times a day, and I haven't heard a word from her in the last two days, and I've left several messages on all of their phones," the 911 caller said.
William Jeffery, 60, and his wife, Raejeana Jeffery, 57, were found dead inside the Farmington Avenue home, deputies said.
"I don't get it. I really don't get it. I don't know why," said neighbor Rosa Gotay.
Residents said the two were kind people, and that William Jeffrey was a veteran known to smile and wave to his neighbors.
"She was always a happy go lucky person. She was cheery and he was nice. He always waved. He did everything," said Gotay.
Investigators said an autopsy determined that William Jeffrey was a homicide victim, but the case is still an apparent murder-suicide.
