• Deputies: Man left boy in parking lot while in strip club

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - A man is accused of leaving a toddler in a strip club parking lot while he went inside to drink.

Volusia County deputies said Jordan Caraway left the 3-year-old alone in the Dixie's Gentlemen's Club parking lot near DeLand Sunday while he went inside to drink and party.

Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, someone spotted the toddler alone, covered in dirt and grease in Caraway's truck for up to 30 minutes, deputies said.

The child's mom told deputies Caraway, 25, was supposed to be watching the child. The mother went to Dixie's to pick up the child after deputies said they called her.

"He needs to stay in jail, simple as that. You don't leave a child in the car and go do what you want to do," said resident Lloyd Bradley.

Caraway claimed he left the youngster with another man while he was inside, but a strip club worker told deputies both men were inside at the same time.

"It's just wrong. Anything could have happened," said Bradley.

Deputies said they believe it may have gone on for some time because someone else said they saw the child in the same truck hours earlier.

Caraway is facing child neglect charges, deputies said.
