Deputies: Man with domestic violence injunction against him stabs wife

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman's husband was arrested after he stabbed his wife during an altercation outside a home near Orlando, according to authorities.

Investigators said Altherio Sharpton, 33, and his wife were separated, and she had filed a domestic violence injunction against him.

Deputies said Sharpton ignored a court order and went to his wife's Center Avenue home and found her hiding under the bed. He then forced her outside the house and stabbed her, investigators said.

Jenneyle Sharpton's four children who were inside the home at the time of the incident called 911, deputies said.

When deputies arrived, they found Jenneyle Sharpton lying in a pool of blood.

Investigators said they arrested Altherio Sharpton at his parents' home in Pine Hills. They said Sharpton confessed to stabbing his wife multiple times with a pocketknife.

Jenneyle Sharpton remains hospitalized at Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Altherio Sharpton is charged with attempted murder, domestic violence, burglary of an occupied dwelling, kidnapping and violation of a domestic violence injunction.

According to a report, he had been arrested several times in the past, including on domestic violence, stalking and battery charges.

On Christmas Day, Altherio Sharpton was arrested on aggravated assault charges after his wife accused him of trying to strangle her, authorities said.

She sought a restraining order, and Sharpton was ordered to stay away from her and the children.
