• Deputies: Seminole County mom arrested after baby bleeds for hours

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - Seminole County investigators said a baby bled for hours because his mother waited to get help after a routine procedure.

Katherine Ajamie was charged with child neglect after her baby was taken to Florida Hospital for Children.

According to detectives, Ajamie's child went in for a routine procedure on March 24. After the procedure, the baby bled through several diapers for several hours and turned pale, according to an arrest affidavit. Deputies said that's when the mother took the baby to a hospital.

"(It) sounds like she should have been acting quickly," a neighbor said.

Investigators won't say what procedure the baby underwent because it is confidential. Ajamie was instructed to bring the child back to the hospital for follow-up tests the day after the bleeding incident, but she never showed up and didn't answer phone calls, investigators said.

The mother posted a $5,000 bond and left the Seminole County Jail over the weekend. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 26.
