Man charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to ex-girlfriend's home

APOPKA, Fla. — A man suspected of lighting an ex-girlfriend's home on fire Sunday was arrested and charged with arson.

A house on Clarcona Road in Apopka caught on fire at around 12 p.m. Sunday. Neighbors said they saw a man leaving the home with a suitcase while the house was on fire.

Neither the woman who lives in the house, Shannon Buin, nor her children were home at the time, but she told investigators she suspected her ex-boyfriend, Graylin Scott, set the fire because she ended their relationship.

She said Scott was visiting from out of town.

“I told him he had to leave,” Buin said. “I guess this is his way of getting back; I don’t know.”

After inspecting the home and interviewing witnesses, the state fire marshal arrested Scott and charged him with arson Sunday night.
