Gunman in custody following Pine Hills standoff

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man is in custody following a standoff with Orange County deputies in Pine Hills on Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff's officials said deputies were responding to reports of a sexual battery at a home near North Lane and Pine Hills Road around 11 a.m.

According to officials, when deputies arrived they heard gunshots inside the house.

Deputies believed that there were more than one person in the house when they arrived.

After a lengthy standoff SWAT members used tear gas and Leonon Davis, 28, walked out of the house with his hands in the air. He was handcuffed and taken away in a deputy's cruiser.

No one else was found in the house and deputies said the gunfire they heard was Davis shooting at objects in the home.

Investigators said Davis is being charged with kidnapping and sexual battery.

Students at Meadowbrook Middle School being held at the school during the incident. Just after 4:30 p.m. officials started releasing the students.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
