Deputies: Father killed by son after hitting mother

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Avalon Park community is in shock after a 34-year-old father was shot and killed by his son early Wednesday morning.

Orange County deputies said the 15-year-old shot his father, Christopher Albano, just after 2 a.m. at a home on Sun Dew Road because the man was allegedly beating his wife.

"We are so early into this investigation that we are still getting the facts into what happened tonight, but we do have an approximately 35-year-old Hispanic male dead," said Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Jinette Albano called 911 and said her husband came home intoxicated and began hitting her, so her son, Johnny, grabbed a gun and shot him.

The victim's mother, Phyllis Nason, told Channel 9 he and his wife had been together since they were 13 and they weren’t aware of any domestic violence at the home.

"My son has never ever hit his wife ever in his life," said Nason.

Kay Hamilton, who lives next door, said she heard the gunshots and then saw deputies and emergency crews swarm the scene minutes later.

"I says, 'Oh my gosh. It's gun shots,'" said Hamilton.

"We were asleep. No big sounds, anything like that. It was more of when I woke up this morning, I got a text message from a friend that said this went down," said neighbor Dominic Vitiello.

Another neighbor said there had been trouble at the home before. The neighbor said there was a SWAT standoff about a year ago involving family members.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Four people were in the home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was hurt
