Doctors "cautiously optimistic" vaccine may be approved this year

ORLANDO, Fla. — As the debate continues in Washington, DC, between the CDC and the President over when there will be a coronavirus vaccine, local experts are “cautiously optimistic” we will see a vaccine this year.

“I think there is a pretty good possibility that we may see a vaccine approved,” said Dr. Vincent Hsu, AdventHealth’s infection control officer.

Hsu also says that a vaccine is more likely than Americans developing herd immunity.

“We are nowhere near that right now in the US or here in Florida, despite the millions of cases of covid that have occured,” Hsu said.

While a vaccine will take time, experts agree that it will be important when it comes to getting the country back to normal.
