Inside, they found the 37 dogs in “poor and unsanitary” conditions.

Animal Control reported seeing many of the dogs confined to crates with their own waste caked into their fur.

They noted that some of the dogs had very long nails, impeding their ability to walk.

All of the dogs were taken to Marion County Animal Services for medical exams and rehabilitative care.

Marion County officials described the dogs’ owner as a “repeat offender” who was prohibited from owning any new animals back in 2015. The owner was found in contempt of court after violating that order in 2018.

Now, Marion County Animal Services says they’re working to gain custody of the dogs so they can begin the task of finding them quality homes with loving families.

The dog owner has not been identified.

Marion County officials are pleading with people to consider adopting, as their shelter has currently exceeded overcrowded status.
