'Egg-like' odor creates smelly situation in Seminole County along I-4

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County and city officials are working to identify the source of a strange odor in the area of the Seminole-Volusia County line, along the I-4 corridor, that extends into the Sanford and Lake Mary areas.

Seminole County, Lake Mary and Sanford Fire Departments said crews have responded to multiple gas-leak reports that are attributed to the odor.

Many 911 callers have described the smell as an “egg-like” odor.

The Seminole County Special Hazards and Operations Team conducted hazardous materials testing, but the results came up negative.
