Embattled Fruitland Park city manager offers to resign, but on his terms

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Eyewitness News obtained a letter from embattled Fruitland Park City Manager Ralph Bowers to the city mayor.

Bowers was put on paid leave, because a woman filed a complaint with the Lake County Sheriff's Office, accusing him of sexual battery.

In the letter to the mayor, Bowers offers to resign from office in one month if Fruitland Park agrees to pay him two months' salary as severance, gives him his Christmas bonus and pays him for all of his unused vacation time.

Bowers also said, because the city is requesting his resignation, it should oppose him receiving unemployment pay.

The city has not yet made a decision on Bowers’ offer.
