The people responsible didn’t stay to help and are still out there this morning.

Florida Highway Patrol said it was just before 1 a.m. on July 11, 2021, when the driver of a red car slammed a Toyota Corolla into a guardrail. It was then hit by a pickup truck.

David Roman and Minerva Barreto were inside the car and died.

FHP said the driver didn’t stop or dial 911.

Even though troopers do not know who did it, they do have some clues.

They know the driver responsible was in a red car because the paint transferred onto the victim’s car. They also estimate that there were about 60 cars on the road at the time of the crash.

They are hoping one of the drivers will give them a call with answers.

“Everything will happen the way it is supposed to happen as long as they take the proper steps to be forgiven,” said one of the victims’ sons, David Enrique Roman Barreto.

The family asks anyone with information to speak up.

“Anybody that can help, we greatly appreciate it. They were great people. They raised us pretty great, they loved us and cared for us, they have a grandson on the way — my brother’s son,” Roman Barreto said.
